How do you feather hair with straightners?

This lady has my hair and I think she feathered it. She said it was a style of someone named "Fontina" or "Florentina" or something like that. How doooo you do?

Take a strip of hair and place the flat iron as close to the scalp as you can. Run it into the strip, and if you are about 2-3 cm by the end of the strip, flip it up, as if you wanted it with a curling iron and curl the rest of the band through the iron to draw (yet rolled in the position).
