How to go about this without offending….?

Ok so…my wedding gown is champagne and I am wearing dusted gold shoes. My future sister in law insisted on making my veil. She made her own when she got married and it looked nice so I said ok. It was supposed to be ivory with gold beading around the edges to compliment my gown. She finished making it but it is white not ivory, the beading is metallic silver not gold and its on a comb not a clip. I am wearing my hair out in ringlets so I won’t even be able to keep it in. I do appreciate the amount of work she put into it and I am very grateful but it looks ridiculous with my gown. My hair is black so it stands out more than anything. I don’t want to offend her but I can’t wear it. I don’t want her to think I am ungrateful. What should I do and what should I say to her?

Figures. Simply tell her the truth. Tell her you appreciate that she made it for you, but it does not match with your dress and you will not be able to wear it. Keep it as a souvenier, and get your own veil. If you told her the color you wanted in the first place, she should have understood this. Sorry to say, there’s no easy way out of this.
